MAP Posts 34% Surge in Operating Profit for First Half 2019

Jakarta, 31 st July 2019 – PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP), the leading lifestyle retailer in Indonesia today announced its financial result for first half 2019. Net revenue rose 10% to Rp 10 trillion – up from the Rp 9.1 trillion posted during the corresponding period in 2018. Operating profit jumped 34% from Rp 722 billion to Rp 969 billion while net profit surged 51% to Rp 605 billion – up from the Rp 402 billion posted in the first half of 2018.

 

Commenting on the results, Fetty Kwartati, Head of Corporate Communication of MAP said, “Our first half results continue to reflect the strength of our diversified multi-brand business model. The performance was consistent with our expectations as we achieved strong increases in sales and operating income, as well as solid Lebaran sale in June. To accelerate this momentum in the second half of 2018, we will continue to harness the power of our brand portfolio, drive growth, and fuel innovation across our digital and data analytics capabilities.”

 

“Going forward, we will continue to watch our costs and expand prudently. At the end of the first half of 2019, we opened 216 stores, adding 44,550 sqm to our total retail footage to support the company’s growth. These stores include brand icons like Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Pizza Express, Godiva, Foodhall, Skechers, Sports Station, Planet Sports, Asics, Clarks, Marks & Spencer, Kidz Station and Digimap,“ said Fetty.

 

Meanwhile, as part of MAP’s contribution to the further development of the retail industry in Indonesia, the Company has launched MAP Retail Academy – the first-of-its-kind in Indonesia. Now open to the public, the long-term goal of the Academy is to provide higher education learning pathway in Retail Management.
