MAP ANNOUNCES PLANS TO HAVE MORE THAN 1,000 STORES BY YEAR END

Jakarta, 10th June 2011 – Indonesia’s leading lifestyle retailer PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP) today announced plans to open more stores which will bring its grand total to over 1000 stores by end of 2011. Currently, MAP has a total of 913 stores in 25 cities. New brands launched so far in 2011 include Payless, BCBG, Stradivarius, H.E by Mango, Bershka, Warehouse and Travelogue.

The Indonesian retail powerhouse recently announced a 56% jump in operating profit to a record Rp 82 billion for the first quarter of 2011. Net profit for the first three months of 2011 also increased 45% to Rp 44 billion. For full fiscal year January to December 2010, MAP’s operating profit grew 46% to Rp 449 billion while net profit was Rp 201 billion – a 23% increase over full year 2009.

“MAP had a good year in 2010 – and an excellent start to 2011,” said Fetty Kwartati, Corporate Secretary at MAP. “Our consistent strategy of focusing on our core business – and maximizing the potential of our existing brands and stores – is continuing to bring us positive results. With our portfolio of over 90 world class brands, we are well positioned for further growth opportunities in 2011.”

As part of its growth strategy, MAP plans to intensify its expansion to outer cities – especially those in the eastern part of Indonesia including Jayapura, Palu and Ambon. Just recently, MAP opened its first Starbucks store in Batam – the ninth city for Starbucks in Indonesia. Geographical expansion aside, MAP is also selectively looking for new brands to complement its core business and further enhance its position as the leading lifestyle retailer in Indonesia.
