MAP ANNOUNCES 37% JUMP IN OPERATING PROFIT FOR FIRST QUARTER 2012
Jakarta, 30th April 2012 – Indonesia’s retail powerhouse PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP) today announced its financial result for first quarter ended 31st March 2012.
Operating profit jumped 37% to a record Rp 113 billion – up from the Rp 82 billion achieved in the first quarter of 2011. Net profit grew 33% from Rp 44 billion in the corresponding period in 2011 to Rp 58 billion. Net revenue after cost of consignment sales increased 29 % from Rp 1.269 billion to Rp 1.639 billion.
Commenting on the first quarter 2012 results, Fetty Kwartati, Corporate Secretary of MAP said, “We have delivered another solid quarter underpinned by strong execution and operational excellence.”
For the first quarter of 2012, MAP opened a net total of 32 stores – bringing its grand total to 1,076 stores as at 31st March 2012. New international retail concepts launched by the Group include DKNY at Plaza Indonesia and Hoss Intropia at Plaza Senayan. Founded in 1989, DKNY is a younger and more affordable line of the Donna Karan label while Hoss Intropia is an eclectic womenswear brand from Spain that is renowned for its original and unique style.
New store openings also include existing concepts such as Sports: Sports Station, Planet Sports, and Payless, Fashion: Nautica, Steve Madden, Stradivarius, Kids: Kidz Station (among many others) – all of which have been proven to be significant contributors to MAP’s results in the first quarter 2012. Existing concepts also include 7 new Starbucks – bringing its current total to 121 Starbucks stores as of today. As part of a global revamp, Starbucks Indonesia recently unveiled a radically new store design for its newly renovated outlet in Plaza Indonesia. After dominating the market in major cities, Starbucks Indonesia is now expanding to outer cities – tapping on the tremendous potential of these new markets.
